Low GI certified brand

In September 2023, ONE Bite embarked on a significant milestone by conducting human research studies to validate the low glycemic load (GL) and glycemic index (GI) of our snacks. This research was pivotal in substantiating our commitment to providing healthier snack options.

Research Conducted by INQUIS Clinical Research

The study was carried out by INQUIS Clinical Research, a globally renowned laboratory that has pioneered the method of determining GI and GL. The research adhered to stringent ISO standards, ensuring the highest level of scientific rigor and reliability.

Participant Profile

The study involved a diverse group of participants:

Gender: Both males and non-pregnant females

Age Range: 18 to 75 years

Ethnicities: A mix of North Americans, Asians, and others

The average participant resembled a North American individual, 38 years old, standing 167 cm tall and weighing 75 kg.

Methodology

The research was meticulously designed with three distinct treatments conducted on separate days. Here’s a summary of the process:

  1. Pre-Study Preparation: Participants underwent a 10-14 hour overnight fast.
  2. Blood Sampling: Two fasting blood samples were taken.
  3. Consumption: Participants consumed ONE Bite snacks or 22g of Dextrose (used as the reference food).
  4. Post-Consumption Blood Sampling: Blood samples were collected at intervals of 15, 30, 45, 60, 90, and 120 minutes after consumption.

Over 300 blood samples were analyzed using advanced glucose and plasma analyzers.

Results

The findings were significant and promising. The glucose concentrations and subsequent increases in blood glucose levels following the consumption of ONE Bite protein bars, cookies, and crackers were notably lower than those observed after the consumption of Dextrose at 15, 30, and 45 minutes. At 90 and 120 minutes, glucose levels after consuming ONE Bite maintained a steady, normal level without the rapid decline seen with Dextrose.

Impact of a Low Glycemic Diet

The benefits of consuming low glycemic snacks like ONE Bite are substantial:

The INQUIS glycemic response testing protocol has been approved by the Western Institutional Review Board®, meeting all FDA and DHHS requirements, underscoring the study's credibility.
